WELCOME TO ABDULLAH  MINOR  NINJA WORLD

We dedicated to preserving the arts of the Kurai Kotori Tradition. The arts of our tradition are taught in their entirety. No skill, no matter how obscure, is overlooked. We believe that in order to embrace the true meaning of warrior-hood, one must delve into every aspect of training. This quest leads teachers and students alike into a realm where the knowledge of the past, provides the key to the future.
The Kurai Kotori clan strives to maintain very realistic fighting methods that are applicable in today’s society while also holding firm to the traditional concepts of our Japanese forerunners. The warriors of old knew that the secret to effective technique lied in the application of strategic and unorthodox tactics. This is perhaps the most important lesson one can learn on their journey towards combative enlightenment. Whatever works…works.

THE ARTS TAUGHT AT NINAA.COM
This site teaches a variety of arts. Ninjutsu (the art of the Ninja), Bushijutsu (the art of the Samurai), Kunoichijutsu (the art of the Female Ninja), Ko-Ninjutsu (the art of the Young Ninja) and Chambara (the art of Theatrical Combat and Stunts). Each system is studied independently and students rarely cross-train, except in the case of Chambara, which is available to any student within the clan.

Even if you only read this book once, you will have learned enough to kill, cripple, or maim any attacker. AND, How to Break A Brick with your Bare Hands!

SO, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Train yourself and be your own Master!

The real ninja would have been shocked at this perversion of their true identity.

Ninja have been known as supernatural assassins for millennia. Tales called them masters of a black magic, able to vanish into empty air or kill a person with a single punch. People swore that they had actually seen ninja running across water, walking on ceilings, or even passing through walls like shadows.

Among the many who have tried to reveal the truth behind the myths is Japanese author Toko Fujita. His books portrayed ninja not as evil, magical beings, but people with incredible physical abilities, trained by what we Americans would call insane fanatics.

TAIJUTSU

NINJA TRAINED TAIJUTSU,IT WAS LIKE A COMBINATION OF KUNG FU AND KARATE,BUT NO ONE KNOWS FOR SURE,SOME SAY THAT A JAPANESE FISHER MAN WENT TO CHINA,THERE HE TRAINED KUNG FU,WHEN HE CAME BACK TO JAPAN HE THOUGHT PEOPLE THE ART OF TAIJUTSU.NINJAS DID NOT TRAIN TAIJUTSU COMPLETLY,THEY ONLY TOOK SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT STUFF LIKE DIM MAK,THE DEATH TOUCH,THEY USED DIM MAK AS A PART OF THEIR NINJA TRAINING.
SAMURAI FALLOW THE CODE OF HONOR AND NEVER STEP BACK FROM A FIGHT,BECAUSE IF THEY DID THEIR ENEMY WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE COWARDS,BUT IT WAS NEVER EASY WHEN FIGHTING A NINJA.
ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS NINJA WAS A SPECIALIST IN CLIMBING WALLS,ONCE WHEN HE WAS ON A MISSION TO KILL THE ENEMY LORD HE WAS SPOTTED BY THE ENEMY GUARDS,HE CLIMBED THE WALL AND JUMPED ON THE GROUND,JUST WHEN HE THOUGHT HE ESCAPED HIS FOOT GOT COUGHT IN A BEAR TRAP,KNOWING THAT HIS ENEMY WAS RIGHT BEHIND HIM HE CUT OFF HIS FOOT AND RAN AWAY.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE RUSES FOR ESCAPING WAS THE COIN TRICK!NOW WHEN THE NINJA WAS ON A MISSION IN A TOWN HE WORE A MASK BEING CAREFUL NOT TO BE NOTICED,BUT WHEN PEOPLE FOUND OUT THAT HE WAS A NINA THEY CHASED HIM OUT OF THE TOWN.PEOPLE THAT RAN BEHIND THE NINJA CARRIED WEAPONS,AND THE NINJA NOT WANTING TO BE KILLED THREW SILVER COINS AT THEM,UNNOTICING THAT THE NINJA WAS GETTING AWAY PEOPLE WOULD START FIGHTING OVER THE MONEY AND THE NINJA WOULD BE SAFETLY OUT OF THE TOWN.

The Ninja, also called "The Shadow Warrior", literally meaning "the man who hides himself", is certainly one of the most fearsome characters of the Japanese Feudal period. In comparison with the Samurai the Ninja, an extremely dangerous warrior, fought using all possible methods and weapons to carry out his mortal mission. The Ninjas were involved in all kinds of wars, most of the time acting as spies, killers or terrorists. Nobody could take shelter from the Ninja. Almost no-one could survive to the scrupulously prepared missions and attacks of a Ninja. This incredibly clever warrior, if necessary, killed every person on the way between him and his prey. He solved every kind of mission with an extremely high accuracy.

As for many other Martial Arts, the history of Ninjutsu (literally the "Art to become invisible") cannot be defined precisely. This is also due to the fact that the Ninjas had to keep every kind of details related to their life and missions under strict secret. Ninjutsu was probably born under the influence of the Chinese, the Indian and Tibetan forms of combat methods used during ancient wars. The name Ninjutsu (sometimes also Shinobi no Jutsu) has been mentioned for the first time by a person who studied several Chinese war instruction manuals. This man was the Prince Shotoku Taishi who lived approximately during the 6th century.

History
Ninjutsu developed itself to its known form (one of the most terrible and effective combat methods) probably during the Heian Period, this was between the 7th and the 12th century, because of a merge between the Ninjas and the clan of the Yamabushi. The Yamabushi was a very powerful community of warrior monks all adepts in the Shungendo, a Buddhist sect. The members of this religious community practised lots of occult ceremonies filled with normal and black magic. Followers of the sect could for instance walk on glowing coals, they could dive their hands in boiling liquids and could also transform ice into boiling water or disappear in smoke clouds.

Shungendo can be translated as the "Way of the Magnificent". The sect practiced asceticism. The Shungendo monks taught the Ninjas the mastering of the Mutra, also called Kuji Kiri, which were approximately 80 figures done by joining the fingers together in several special ways. These forms executed into combination with very specific concentration on the nerves and on the Psyche allowed the Ninjas to control feelings like hunger, cold, fear, pain and sometimes also to heal wounds. After having mastered all those kinds of special trainings, the Ninja were almost invincible. Thus they were used as hired killers, spying specialists or even for acts of sabotage and terrorism.

Later, Ninja schools emerged and several styles of Ninjutsu appeared. The most known styles are the Fudo, Koto, Kyushin and the Gyokku Ryu, styles which were respectively emphasizing the Shuriken Jutsu, Iai Do, the Koppo Jutsu (techniques of breaking and luxating the bones of the human body) and the Yubi Jutsu, the way of killing an adversary with a blow or a manipulation on the vital points of the body. One of the most interesting differences between the Ninja and the Samurai is that the Ninja could afford to run away during a battle if he was in a difficult situation. In the opposite the Code of the Samurai said he should fight for his Master and be ready to die for him. Nevertheless, the Ninja, if he was caught and if he thought there was no hope to escape, did not hesitate to suicide himself.

ninja training

In the past, one could neither learn to become a Ninja nor join a school to be taught. The Ninja education remained inside the family itself and the secrets and techniques of the Ninja were taught from father to son. Moreover a child born in a Ninja family could not decide wether to become a Ninja or not. It was mandatory for both, girls and boys. The practice of the young Ninja began very early, mostly below the age of 5. For instance, the kids were conditioned to accomplish every single task in a complete silence, to dislocate their own limbs and more. Doing so they were later able to escape from almost any place, just by sliding themselves through the smallest holes of a building.

Thus after years of basics the Ninja could start to improve skills like quickness of reactions when attacking and being attacked, endurance, strength and balance. Beside physical training, the Ninja practised also meditation, a way to improve the mental forces. With the body and spirit working tight together the Ninja was able to achieve unbelievable things. The Ninja code said he should fight without being concentrated on the victory. He always engaged the enemy with patience, impassibility, perseverance, controlling his breathing and fear pulsations. Those characteristics allowed the Ninja to be able to evaluate the current situation during a combat with high accuracy. The most important thing was to remain constantly concentrated on (and only) the current moment.

To further improve the mental aspects of their hard physical training the Ninja also practised the so called KUJI KIRI which was also a way to practise the KIAI JUTSU, the technique of hurting or killing the adversary with a sole scream. The KUJI KIRI were a set of combinations and movements done with the hands and fingers. All those combinations were used by the Ninja to concentrate flows of energy in a specific point or region of the body which could for instance heal a wound.

Basic MUTRAS
SHA this MUTRA was used to heal or endure painful wounds
TO used to enhance the power of the Ninja and his KIAI
HEI used to fastly recover energy after a hard combat or difficult action
RIN used during combats and high energy consuming situations
ZAI used to control the five basic elements; CHI=Earth, SUI=Water, KA=Fire, FU=Wind and KU=Emptiness
RETSU used to remote-control things and situations
JIN used to hear faint noises
KAI used to improve intuition
ZEN used to combine concentration and quietness

Henso Jutsu - the techniques of dressing

The Ninja dress is called Shinobi Shozuku. We are used to see the Ninja wearing a black dress with a cap which is covering the whole head in exception of the eyes. Nevertheless the Ninjas used dozens of different clothes in relation to the current mission they had to execute. During winter, in example, the Ninja used a completely white dress so that he could remain almost invisible when operating in snow-covered regions. He also used several other costumes like the Komuso and Yamabushi.

Weapons
Some of the weapons the Ninja used during his Martial Arts education.

The Ninja had to learn to manipulate dozens of weapons and tools. He had to use the most appropriate weapon due to the current circumstances. The Ninja mastered the techniques of Ken Jutsu (sword), the Bo Jutsu (stick), Shuriken Jutsu (throwing of the Shuriken), Kyu Jutsu (archery), Kusarigama Jutsu (manipulation of the Kusarigama), Tanto Jutsu (techniques with the knife), Naginata Jutsu (techniques with the Naginata), Ho Jutsu (knowledge of all fire arms) and many other.

Close combat techniques

The Ninja practised also Tai Jitsu which is in fact a kind of personalized close combat method without weapons. Tai Jitsu contains terrible techniques to attack on the bones and the articulations of the human body but also projections, grasp and strangulation techniques.

Soke

Ninjutsu almost completely disappeared during the Tokugawa period (17th - 19th century) which was the period when most of the Japanese wars ended. The same happened to the Samurai who became unemployed without war missions. Because of the Shogun and his troups controlled the whole country the practice of Martial Arts had to be kept secret and many Ninjutsu schools disappeared. Then, during the 12th century, Daisuke Togakure created the Togakure Ninjutsu Ryu. This school survived till nowadays through an impressive lineage of more than 30 Ninjutsu Masters (Soke). On the next page you'll find a list of all known Soke till nowadays.

NINJA Fighting Style

Tai-Jutsu
The ninja were very competent hand-to-hand fighters. They were trained from birth to fight with their hands and feet. They knew where and how to hit to paralyse or even kill when needed.
One reason that their style of fighting (Tai-jutsu) was so effective, was that they not only studied punching and kicking, but they studied the human body as well. Learning all about the weaknesses and strengths. For example, punching a man in the face can be painful, but it might just piss him off, whereas a punch to the throat will be much more devastating.

Grappling was a strong part of the ninjas fighting technique. Along with bone-crunching kicks and punches, the ninja were equally as strong fighting from the ground. When on the ground grappling, it is not likely that a punch or kick could be used effectively, so techniques such as arm bars and joint locks were used. The grappling was very similar to todays judo or jui-jitsu.

A ninja studies the art of Taijutsu or "body movement". Taijutsu doesn't teach rigid and fixed methods like almost every other martial art does. Instead, it stresses fluidity, natural movement and spontaneity. Also, the ninja learned to exploit the joints and pressure points of an enemy. When a punch or kick was thrown, a ninja wouldn't simply block the attack, he would strike a pressure point or nerve center to cause the limb to lose its function. Not only did the ninja learn to disable a person, he also learned to quickly and effectively kill. It is true that a ninja could kill with one blow by exploiting the weaknesses of the body. Another important aspect of Taijutsu was learning to reverse any situation or attack. They were trained from childhood to be extremely flexible and could therefore escape any hold or lock they might be put in. They even played games as children where they were tied up and the object of the game was to get yourself untied as quickly as possible; within a few years, a ninja learned to get out of any type of binding.

Ninpo
Ninjutsu is best described as the collection of skills utilized by the Ninja while Ninpo, often referred to as "the higher order of Ninjutsu, " implies a philosophy for living based on the principles of Nin.
Nin translates into patience, but can also imply perseverance, or stealth. The Japanese character for Nin consists of two parts or radicals. The upper radical is called yaiba which refers to the cutting edge of a blade. The lower radical can be read either as kokoro or shin, both of which mean heart.

The character po, which implies natural law, is used rather than do (i.e.. judo, kendo, aikido, etc). Referring to our art as Ninpo rather than Ninjutsu stresses training which is concerned with the internal development of the individual's character along with the technical skills of martial training. It isn't enough just to know techniques, it is where your heart and spirit are as a person that is important. For this reason, Ninpo stresses philosophic and spiritual training in conjunction with the physical training. This refinement of one's spirit is known in Japanese as seishinteki kyoyo.

Ninpo is concerned with the defense of the whole self, and recognizes that defense against a life-threat is dealt with by the spirit as much as with physical technique.

Ninja Fists
Excerpt taken from Stephen K. Hayes book, "The Ninja and their Secret Fighting Art". Click here for Stephen's Website
Shikan-ken (Extended-Knuckle Fist)
The shikan-ken is the fundamental fist of the Togakure-ryu. It is used against hard, broad surfaces of bone structure. The fist is formed with the fingers half-folded, leaving the middle knuckles protruding. The striking points are the knuckles, which may be applied to the facial bones, breast-bone, and sides of the middle ribs.
The punch goes straight in, bullet-like, with all the force behind the striking points. The elbow should not rise along the outside of the fist's path, or the punch will bend and hook. The elbow is kept close to the ribs, forcing the punch straight into the target. The teacher warned that the fist is not flipped into place and withdrawn, but used to knock the adversary back. The thrust of the punch continues through the impact with the target.

Fudo-ken (Clenched Fist)
This is the conventional clenched fist, which can be used to strike from many different angles. It is used against a variety of targets, but is especially effective against areas of the body in which the edges of the bone structure are accessible. This fist is formed by curling the fingers into the palm and clamping the thumb beside the index finger. The front slab of the fist, the outside knuckles, or the inside knuckles can be used to strike targets such as the nose, jaw, lower edges of the ribs, arms, and legs.

Boshi-ken (Thumb-Drive Fist)
The boshi-ken is unique to the ninja's system of combat. This fist's single striking point is used against semisoft targets, generally muscles covering bone structure. It is especially well suited for attacking nerve centers with precision. The fist is formed with the thumb protruding, and the hand in a position resembling that used to grip a golf club. The thumb is positioned for a driving jab, reinforced by the curled index finger. This single striking point is used to attack targets such as the side of the neck, the sides of the upper ribs, the solar plexus, and the lower abdomen to the inside of the hip bones. As with most of the punches in ninjutsu, it is essential to follow powerfully through the target, and not merely poke and retreat.

Shuto (Sword Hand)
The sword hand is not really a fist, but it is an important striking weapon. The lower outside edge of the palm is used against the structures of the limbs and neck, as well as for striking into the joints. In the shuto, the planes of the palm and fingers form an angle of 45 degrees, and the thumb is clamped along he base of the index finger.
When beginning the sword-hand strike, maintain the hand in a conventional fist to disguise your intention. The hand swings around into the target, drawing power from the weight and motion of the arm and body. At the instant before contact, the hand is opened to shuto position and smashed through the target at a 90-degree angle to its surface. The hand is not flicked into place and quickly withdrawn. The strike is intended to stun or to break through the bone structure attacked.
