A Word About Self-Defense

Many people erroneously believe that training in martial arts can rescue them from virtually any dangerous situation. We have visions of a lone woman in a dark alley slaying an attacker with a swift kick to the face or a Jujitsu hold. While martial arts can help, it is sometimes easier to prevail, or to save your life by doing nothing. An important concept in martial arts is winning by losing. Self-defense is part of the larger, overall approach to life. The self-defense aspect alone is not necessarily a means to an end.

The Eastern martial arts provide for far more internal, rather than external rewards. The training hall for martial arts (kwoan in Chinese, dojo in Japanese and dojang in Korean) is traditionally called "The Place of Enlightenment".

A: No

Q: I'm 13 and I have wanted to be a Ninja all my life. Can you tell me how to become one?
A: At 13 you have no idea what 'all your life is'. Email me again when you are 23

Q: I'm 23 and I have wanted to be a Ninja all my life. Can you tell me how to become one?
A: The best thing to do is join a Ninjutsu Dojo and then see if you like the martial arts of Ninjutsu. Life will then take you on a wonderful journey.

Q: I hear you have to be a black belt in another martial art to start Ninjutsu. What is the best one to start with?
A: Not true, in fact it can be far better to have never done another martial art. No bad habits to break 

Q: I'm 13, why won't you add me to your ICQ contact list?
A: I don't let everyone add me. It's nothing personal. I have a very large list and sometimes have to be very selective.

Q: I get bullied at school/work/church. What can I do about it?
A: Join a Dojo. Not to learn to beat people up but to get confidence. Bullies only pick on people they know will be easy targets.

Q: I've been studying your videos. Can you grade me over the net?
A: No, you have to join a Dojo and learn from an instructor. You can not learn anything from watching videos.

Q: My message didn't appear on the message board. Why?
A: You probably said something really stupid and so it got deleted

Q: Do you answer all the Emails you get?
A: I try to answer all my Emails within 2 days. Sometimes I get Emails that don't warrent an answer (see below)

Q: You didn't answer my Email. Why?
A: You probably said or asked something really stupid and so it got deleted

Q: Can you tell me where the nearest Dojo is?
A: Please put a message on the message board. I don't know where all the dojos in the world are. Did you try the Dojo list?

Q: Can I use your graphics/info/videos on my Web Site?
A: Email me and ask for the ones you want to use. You may get lucky

Q: Why do ALL Koga Ryu guys sign off 'I remain' and 'In the force with' ?
A: Beats me. Maybe they watch too much Star Wars.

Q: I have read your Web Site. Can you send me more info on Ninjutsu?
A: No, I don't have the time to tell you everything you could read in a book or go to a Dojo to learn. You could of course wait til I upgrade the site. A lot of the time I make small adjustments and put small amounts of info up without notifing so keep checking back.

Q: I have read your Web Site and there is no info on Kuji in/Weapons/Techniques. Can you send me some?
A: Try reading the site properly. This is probably THE largest Ninjutsu site on the Net.

Q: Can you send me a list of other sites with Ninjutsu on it?
